Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about ImgLab Pro.

General

No. Your images never leave your device. All processing happens 100% locally in your browser using JavaScript and the HTML5 Canvas API. This is a fundamental part of how ImgLab works — not just a promise. There are no upload requests, no server processing, nothing. You can even turn off your internet connection mid-processing and it will still work.

ImgLab can input: JPG, PNG, WEBP, GIF, BMP, SVG, AVIF, TIFF, and many RAW formats (CR2, NEF, ARW) and HEIC files. Output formats include JPG, PNG, WEBP, GIF, BMP, ICO, TIFF, and AVIF. Note that some conversions (like AVIF output) fall back to WEBP depending on your browser's capabilities.

Yes! ImgLab is a Progressive Web App (PWA). Click "Install App" in the header to install it on your device. Once installed, it works completely offline. Image processing never needed the internet anyway — it's all local.

ImgLab works best in Chrome and Edge (recommended). It also works in Firefox and Safari, though some format support may differ slightly. Internet Explorer is not supported.

Payments are processed securely by PayPal. You can pay with your PayPal account or any major credit/debit card. We never see or store your card details — PayPal handles all of that. After payment, your account is automatically upgraded to Pro within seconds.

Technical

This can happen when converting to lossless formats (PNG) or when your original was heavily compressed. For example, a small JPEG converted to PNG will be larger because PNG is lossless. Try WEBP format for the best size/quality ratio, or adjust the quality slider for JPEG output.

HEIC support depends on your browser. Chrome and Edge on Windows/Mac support HEIC natively. Safari supports it on macOS. Firefox does not support HEIC. If your browser can display the image, ImgLab can convert it. If not, try opening the file in Chrome first.

There's no hard file size limit set by ImgLab. The practical limit depends on your device's RAM — processing a 200MP image on a phone with 2GB RAM may cause issues. On a modern desktop, you can handle very large files without problems. As a general guide, files under 50MB work reliably on all devices.

No. Your Pro status is tied to your account on our server, not your browser. Just log back in and your Pro access is restored instantly. The only thing stored locally is your session token, which is like a "remember me" cookie — easily recreated by logging in again.
